Hello, I'm Miss Lassen
Teaching is not just my career, it is my passion in life.
A little bit about little ol' me...
I'm thrilled to be teaching at Stonegate Elementary as the Reading Intervention Special for this coming school year. (2014-2015)
This will be my third year working with the great staff and students of Stonegate Elementary. I have a total of 4 years experience as a Professional Educator. I graduated with a degree in Liberal Studies from California State University Sacramento and then continued at Sac State to acquired my CA K-8th grade teaching credential. I went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Education concentrating in 21st Century Learning from Lesley University. I have experience working with reading comprehension, English literature and expanding academic vocabulary.
Two and a half years ago, I spent a year and a half in Seoul, South Korea teaching English as a foreign language at a public elementary school, grades 3rd-6th. As I was teaching in a second language to my students, I learned valuable strategies and methods for student success in reading and writing of the English language.
I enjoy reading, as well as, exercising, and going on fun Day-Trips/Adventures. I love traveling, meeting new people and learning of all kinds.
My philosophy for teaching is that each child is unique, which means each child may learn in a different way. One of my jobs as the Read 180 teacher is to help your child discover his or her individual reading potential and work alongside with them to maximize it. I believe in building a classroom community, hands-on experiences, and learning creatively. Curiosity and the love for learning is ultimately of human instinct. I look forward to regaining that love of learning by having a fun–filled and educational year!
